Cable Sizing
Select a cable that carries current, limits voltage drop and survives faults.
Steps
1. Find Ib. 2. Select In ≥ Ib. 3. Apply correction factors: It ≥ In / (Ca × Cg × Ci × Cc). 4. Choose cable from Appendix 4 tables for the reference method. 5. Check voltage drop. 6. Check Zs and the adiabatic equation.
Correction factors
Ca: ambient temperature. Cg: grouping. Ci: thermal insulation. Cc: 0.725 for BS 3036 fuses or cables buried in ground.
