Medical Locations (Section 710)
Major revision in A4:2026, including a new bonding test schedule.
Groups
Medical locations are classified by how equipment is used on patients: Group 0 (no applied parts), Group 1 (applied parts used externally or invasively except intracardiac) and Group 2 (intracardiac or life-critical procedures where loss of supply could endanger life). Group 2 locations use a medical IT system with insulation monitoring.
A4 changes
Section 710 has been substantially revised and restructured, and A4 introduces a schedule of test results for recording the resistance of supplementary protective equipotential bonding conductors in medical locations.
