New section in A4:2026 for ELV DC power delivered over ICT data cabling.
What it covers
Section 716 applies to ELV DC power supplied over information and communication technology (ICT) cabling — e.g. PoE lighting, cameras, wireless access points.
Key points
Power sourcing equipment must provide ELV (SELV/PELV-type) outputs; cable selection must account for heating when cables are bundled carrying power, since current-carrying capacity of data cable is limited; installation and segregation follow the manufacturer's and ICT cabling standards (e.g. BS EN 50174 series).
